So, let's dive back in the blogs. We have been going through Philippians 3 and we started with verse 7. We talked about what are you willing to lose for the sake of the Gospel and gaining Christ in the process. Today we are going to discover a union with Christ, meaning developing a relationship with Him. Ready to see what God has for us today?!?
Grab the coffee and snack and let's dive in.
"and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith." Philippians 3:9
Found in Him-this is the unity with Christ. Think about how Christians are called the bride, and Jesus is our Bridegroom. We are unified with Him. This relationship is ongoing. There is a comfort, love and compassion. That comes with the unity. We are righteous through faith, not from the law. Remember the law, The Torah-the first five books of the Bible. Through His righteousness and our faith, we are "found" in Him awaiting our eternal place with Him.
This righteousness comes with total surrender and dependence on Him. Remember it will cost you to follow Jesus completely.
Grant Osborne states, "We will take with us into eternity all that we have done for Christ, for the church, and for others (our gains) and will forever suffer the loss of those earthly possessions, pursuits, and concerns we should have considered loss all along."
Our righteousness should be God centered. It is the gift that was obtained on the Cross. We cannot earn His righteousness; it is solely based on the Cross and the reconciling work of Jesus.
Osborne states, "Everything we have and are has come to us on the basis of our faith-response to God’s free gift of salvation, and our present and future status as members of the kingdom community is the direct result."
Our salvation is free. Our righteousness happened on Good Friday, when Christ was crucified for all of us.
I pray today you completely surrender your life to Jesus. Eternity with Him in Heaven will be far better than we could ever imagine.
Love,
V
