Ever had one of those days, I had my blog all typed up and ready to go, then POOF! it disappeared. Out in the cloud somewhere I suppose. So, this was an opportunity to change it all together. We are going to dive into Genesis 1 today, only the first four verses. Y'all ready?!?

For this study, I am studying the English Standard Version Bible and multiple commentaries for references.

1. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.

Verse 1: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

God's previous existence has no definite origin. God just is! It is the initial stage of creation, which will be shaped by God's almighty power into a complete and great world. Oh, but there's so much more to Who God is, we are going to fast forward to John 1:1 for just a minute, so hang on tight.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God." John 1:1

Do you see it?!? In the beginning was the Word (logos in the Greek), the Word is Jesus! It took me FOREVER to get that, I am truly a blonde. In the beginning...

Jesus was there from the beginning. God and Jesus...Jesus just hung out in Heaven until it was His time to come to Earth to restore and redeem mankind. How cool is that?!?

Verse 2: The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Don't miss this-it is the first time the Spirit of God is mentioned! His presence was hovering over the Earth. He is getting ready to speak and call things into existence, just by the sound of His voice.

Have you ever His heard His voice? Now, I have never heard Him audibly, but He speaks to me in scripture, in the wind with the leaves rustling, in the eyes of a child, through others, in prayer, and a variety of other ways. When is the last time, you were quiet before the Lord to hear Him speak? Oh, sweet friend, I encourage you to do so.

Verse 3: And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

HE SPOKE it into existence. It was done by the sound of His voice. WOW!! What power His has, how mighty.

Now, this light is prior to the Creation of the sun. But do you know the coolest thing?

"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." John 1:5

John's words echo Genesis 1.

Jesus is our Light, He is THE LIGHT. The One that lights our path and guides our steps. As believers develop their walk with Jesus, they become the light in this dark world. As a believer, are you walking in the light? Are you the light of the world? Take a few minutes and reflect.

Verse 4: And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.

When God separated the light and dark, He created the day and the night. This shows He ultimately has Authority over all things. Since He has the Authority to create, does He have the authority over you?

Oh, friend, I wish we could have a cup of coffee and sit to talk about these thought-provoking questions. I wonder what your answer would be. I pray they have sparked a thought. Grab a pen, notebook and your Bible. Journal these questions and your answers. Give Him a part of your day, for He is the Light to draw you unto Him.

May your day be blessed. If you have questions or prayer requests, please email me.

May you always find Everlasting Joy,

Veronica

Absolutely love these little blogs! They are such inspiration in every day life. And left with food for thought. Just like Holy spirit and He's definitely here in the writing 💞 this was a great remind of things I have been tought in the past, but needed to pay more attention to and really seek out. Until we recognize Jesus as the personification of the written word; the written word will not become living to us. It will be just a story with out a plot. A book without a theme. With out Jesus, the written word is lifeless
